With nearly 40 years’ experience in health care code compliance, fire protection and emergency management, Nick knows the regulatory landscape of the health care industry. As a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Nick has led teams
across North America and the globe to provide fire and life safety and emergency management services to a range of regional and state health care entities, including health care systems, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and long-term care. Nick’s
fire safety experience includes years as both a career Fire Chief and volunteer firefighter.
Nick is currently the Chair of the NFPA 99 Technical Committee on Health Care Emergency Management and Security and a Primary on the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code® Board and Care Facilities Technical Committee.
Tom Peterson - Market Director of Plant Operations, Adventist Health
Mr. Peterson has 20+ years of experience in healthcare facilities management, and more than 30 years’ experience in facilities/construction management. Prior to working St Helena, he worked with Adventist Health at their Glendale campus. His
responsibilities have included oversight of Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Linen, Safety, Patient Transport, Transportation, Emergency Management, Construction, Environment of Care, Security and Grounds.
Mr. Peterson was instrumental in opening California’s first green field critical access hospital.
Mr. Peterson holds or has held the following certifications: Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM), Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), Senior Certified Healthcare Mechanic (MECH), FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 700, 800, and FEMA ATC
