The increasing operational cost for a healthcare facility is related to its environment and equipment which is the responsibility of plant and biomedical personnel. Healthcare engineering managers have a personal responsibility to advance skills, awareness and knowledge to maintain a proper level of effectiveness and efficiency in the department. Incorporated in 1970, CSHE originally included the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, which was founded in 1956, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Chapter founded in 1959, and the Inland Chapter founded in 1967. The San Diego Chapter was established in 1972,Central
Coastal and Orange County in 1976, Central Valley in 1977, Northeastern California in 1980, Kings River in 1986, Kern River in 1989, South Bay Counties in 1991 and Redwood in 1992.
