My career started in safety and public health as a Firefighter/Engineer/EMT in Contra Costa County while also working for Tosco & Shell Refineries in Martinez as a Safety Officer/EMT. After coming to Kaiser Permanente in 1997 and working as an Emergency
Room Technician and Sr. Orthopedics Technician, I made my way back to safety. Now at Kaiser Permanente for the past 26+ years, my focus has been environment of care, emergency management, respiratory protection, industrial
hygiene, hazardous materials & wastes, injury illness prevention, and facility services support. I hold both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in healthcare administration which has lent to my experiences and oversight of
Facilities Services and Safety Operations.
Santiago Chambers, State Vice President
Santiago D. Chambers is the Director of Plant Operations at UCI Health Los Alamitos in Los Alamitos, CA. Santiago has over 25 years of healthcare experience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Human Services and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. Santiago is also a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional and Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional. He is married to his wife of 30 years with 3 adult children: 1 college graduate, 1 finishing college, and the last serving in the U.S. Marines. Santiago is also a U.S. Navy Veteran. Tom Peterson, CHFM, CHC, State Treasurer
Mr. Peterson brings 20+ years of experience in healthcare facilities management, and more than 30 years’ experience in facilities/construction management. Prior to working St Helena, he worked with Adventist Health at their Glendale campus. His responsibilities
have included oversight of Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Linen, Safety, Patient Transport, Transportation, Emergency Management, Construction, Environment of Care, Security and Grounds.
Joe Brothman, State Secretary
Joe Brothman brings a decade of unwavering commitment and professionalism to the California Society for Healthcare Engineers (CSHE). He is currently holding the position of President of the CSHE Orange County Chapter, serving as the Chair of the CSHE Education Committee as well as the CSHE State Secretary. Joe plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's trajectory. With nearly ten years of active involvement, Joe has served in key leadership roles as both a chapter Vice President and President. His tenure reflects a practical and impactful contribution to the evolution of healthcare engineering practices in the region. Joe has successfully led various significant events, including the recent SoCal Seminar, showcasing his ability to organize and deliver successful initiatives that foster knowledge-sharing within the healthcare engineering community. Currently, he is channeling his expertise into chairing this year's Annual Institute, demonstrating his commitment to ongoing education and professional development. In addition to his roles within CSHE, Joe is the Director of General Services at UCI Medical Center in Orange, California. His hands-on experience in the healthcare sector brings a practical perspective to his leadership roles within CSHE, ensuring alignment with industry standards and practical applicability. Joe Brothman's leadership is characterized by inclusivity, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. As he guides CSHE into the future, Joe continues to advocate for positive change, inspiring growth, and progress within the healthcare engineering community.
Narsimha Irrinki, Immediate Past President
Narsimha Irrinki has been working in healthcare facilities for over 25 years. He is currently working as the Enterprise Director of Facilities for Santa Clara Valley Healthcare in San Jose. Prior to this position, Narsimha was the Support Services Administrator
at Kaiser Permanente at Redwood City Medical Center, Redwood City, the Director of Engineering at San Mateo Medical Center, San Mateo, and Assistant Director of Engineering at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula,
Monterey. He is also a Life Safety Code Surveyor with The Joint Commission for over 15 years.
