Please join the CSHE Inland Empire Chapter Meeting and connect with healthcare engineers and our local affiliates. At this meeting, we will discuss Shared Air, Shared Goals: Healthcare HVAC, Where Engineering, Infection Prevention, and Compliance Meet.
Join us for a first-of-its-kind collaborative educational event bringing together members of CSHE and APIC to explore the critical role healthcare HVAC systems play in patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance. This unique
session creates an opportunity for healthcare engineering and infection prevention professionals to learn alongside one another, fostering stronger partnerships and a shared understanding of the challenges and responsibilities each discipline faces.
Designed for both facilities and infection prevention professionals, this one-hour educational session will review HVAC fundamentals, key terminology, airflow and pressurization concepts, filtration requirements, and the regulatory framework
governing healthcare ventilation systems, including standards and guidance from ASHRAE, FGI, NFPA, CMS, and The Joint Commission. Participants will explore the important distinction between design requirements and operational expectations, gaining
practical insight into how healthcare facilities manage and maintain complex HVAC systems in real-world environments.
The session will also examine how risk assessments can support informed decision-making when addressing compliance concerns, operational limitations, and patient safety priorities. By bringing CSHE and APIC members together in a shared learning
environment, attendees will gain a greater appreciation for the perspectives, challenges, and objectives of both professions. The goal is to strengthen collaboration, improve communication, and develop practical approaches that support safe patient
care while balancing regulatory expectations and operational realities.
