NFPA 70B Compliance for Healthcare Facilities

In the last edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) in 2023, the NFPA codified NFPA 70B, the standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance. Previously the NEC referenced NFPA 70B as a recommendation, but in 2023 it made it a code-requirement.

This course will cover review NFPA 70B, Electrical Maintenance Programs (EMP), and how they must be conducted. It will also cover what effect this will have on Division 26 specifications and healthcare facility operations. Attendees will additionally gain insights into strategies for automating maintenance programs outlined in NFPA 70B to enhance system resiliency, streamline documentation, and reduce labor hours. You must register to receive the zoom link. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Learning Objectives

  • What is NFPA 70B and its major components?
  • Why is it important to now have a mandated standard as opposed to a recommended practice?
  • What other standards and organizational requirements are complemented/enhanced by the inclusion of NFPA 70B?
  • Typical equipment types and systems directly addressed in NFPA 70B.
  • How can available industry technologies assist in achieving the goals outlined by NFPA 70B?
